Buderus Edelstahl Schmiedetechnik GmbH in Wetzlar is one of Europe's leading close-die forging plants.

From the start, our production programme has included high-grade close-die forgings.

Forging

Buderus Edelstahl Schmiedetechnik GmbH produces on press lines and in forging groups of
25, 32, 45, 63, 80 and 100 MN compression force.
All forging groups are equipped with induction heating equipment, robots or handling equipment.
They consist of induction heating plant for billet sections sheared free of stresses and cracking, hydraulic preforming presses, forging presses, trimming presses, and cooling lines.
The press lines are equipped with robots or manipulators.

Processes

  • Closed-die forging
  • Hot rod and tube extrusion
  • Precision forging

Forming capability

  • Parts with difficult flow properties, and extremely tight tolerances.
  • Complicated parts made of materials that are difficult to form.
  • Parts with complex requirements in terms of fibre orientation, surface, and close weight tolerances, cold extruded parts, with and without draft angles.

After forging

  • Heat treatment in continuous furnaces to achieve precisely the microstructure and mechanical properties required.
  • Descaling
  • Partial or complete machining as required.
